1. What kind of books or texts are the people reading? Did they choose them?
In the images, some people seem to be reading books, possibly for pleasure, while others look like they are reading textbooks or academic materials, maybe in a classroom or study environment. If someone is sitting in a library or classroom, they probably did not completely choose the book themselves — it might have been assigned by a teacher. On the other hand, a person reading at home is more likely reading something they chose for personal interest.
2. How might they be feeling?
People read in a relaxed environment might feel calm, entertained, or emotionally engaged with the story. Reading for pleasure often creates a sense of escape.
Those reading textbooks or studying might feel focused, concentrated, or even slightly stressed, especially if they are preparing for an exam. Their body language (serious facial expressions, leaning forward, taking notes) could suggest effort and responsibility rather than relaxation.
3. My own experience as a reader (L1: Spanish / L2: English)
In my first language (Spanish), I usually enjoy reading: novels, short stories, news articles, opinion columns
I feel more comfortable reading complex literature in Spanish because it is my native language, and I can easily understand cultural references, humor, and emotions.
In my second language (English), I tend to read: online articles, academic texts, professional content, sometimes contemporary novels.
I usually choose texts in English that help me improve my vocabulary or that are connected to my studies or interests. I sometimes avoid very old or complex literature in English because it requires more effort.
I do not always choose the same type of texts in both languages. The choice depends on:
-
My purpose (study, entertainment, information)
-
My language level and confidence
-
The availability of certain books
-
My mood
Regarding format, I read:
-
Paper books when I want to relax and disconnect from screens
-
Online articles and PDFs for study or quick information
-
Sometimes e-books for convenience
I usually read:
-
In the evening before going to sleep
-
During free time on weekends
-
Occasionally while commuting
Overall, my reading habits have changed over time. I now read more digital content than before, especially in English, while I still prefer printed books for literature in Spanish.
